Fabulous skiing and boarding conditions, carnival fun - and incredible money-saving offers for late season holidaymakers.
A mid-season carnival extravaganza has coincided with fabulous snow conditions to bring an amazing festival atmosphere to Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Parades with floats depicting folklore tales, open air street theatre, fancy dress and face painting have enthralled visitors, while wonderful snow on the slopes surrounding the town have brought some of the best mid-season skiing and boarding conditions for years.
Well-known Italian street performers including the Jashgawronsky Brothers and Fausto Giori have been entertaining revellers, who have also been enjoying the traditional carnival sweet treat of Nighele, a type of corn fritter. Carnival time is always the perfect time to discover the rich culinary traditions of the Ampezzo Dolomites.
This has really been a very special time of the season for any guests lucky enough to be in Cortina just now, said Marianne Moretti from Cortina Marketing Se.Am.
The skiing conditions are simply perfect - with one of the beauties of Cortina being that the slopes are rarely crowded even at busy holiday times. And after skiing there is a wonderful festival atmosphere in the town itself.
The feel-good factor will continue for visitors to Cortina later in the season too. Very special money-saving offers have been announced for the second half of March until the end of the ski season.
The Italian spring sunshine will feel even brighter with the resort offering free days! With this Dolomiti Supersun deal, hotels will be offering seven days' accommodation for the price of six days, plus guests will also be able to buy a six-day ski pass for the price of five days. That's not all - six days for the price of five will also be available for equipment rental and for ski and board lessons.
The seven days' accommodation for the price of six will mean, for example, prices from €550 for two people sharing a double room, with breakfast. The offer is available for bookings from March 18 for the rest of the season.
