Beth Ditto and her Indie rock band Gossip warmed up an enthusiastic crowd of 20,000 in the Tirolean resort of Ischgl at the weekend, including Ski-write press trip ski writers and the Ski Club of Great Britain.
The US band and their larger than life singer braved temperatures of -15C in the snow cloaked village centre in the resort's ski season opening concert. She joked with the crowd that it was "so warm I'll have to wear a bikini next time".
Beth said: "Ischgl is so amazingly pretty. I know that's a cliché and everyone says it, but it's true! I've never skied, but this looks a wonderful place for those that do."
Ischgl's winter season opened on Friday 26 November with some of the best early snow for several years and most of the lifts and slopes open, including the home runs right down to the village centre.
It was a long weekend of parties to launch Ischgl's five month long ski season, which will end at the beginning of May - perfect for Brits who have just been given an extra day's holiday to mark the Royal Wedding on Friday 29 April.
The season closing Top Of The Mountain concert will be on Saturday 30 April and the resort will close on Sunday 1 May. Ischgl's closing season act has yet to be announced. They will join Gossip in Ischgl's Hall of Fame with other big names including Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, Kylie Minogue, Elton John, Lionel Richie and Rihanna.
