The stunning and characteristic Dolomiti range of The Alps is a paradise of outdoor mountain activities for all ages.

Ski-write oversaw a major get-to-know-you event - Belle Dolomiti - for 60 travel writers and tour operators at the National Geographic Store in London to introduce a new online development which means that visitors can plan their holiday in 3D.

The 3Dolomites and Venetian mountain project is a system of interactive maps that gives an astonishing preview of what's in store in Cortina - even bike and hiking trails and climbing routes can all be seen with amazing clarity.

Cortina d'Ampezzo is known as the Queen of the Dolomites, and has been a major tourist destination for more than 100 years. Simply walking or relaxing amid the incomparable scenery - the sky an indigo blue and the mountain meadows sometimes a soothing green, at others filled with Alpine flowers and a riot of colour - and breathing the pure mountain air, is still the chief draw. It's a regeneration for body and soul.

The town's child-friendly, intimate and cosy atmosphere makes it ideal for families with youngsters. And there are fun experiences for children and parents, such as the new Cortina Planetarium. There are farm restaurants, mountain dairies, a plant workshop - and the chance to see the 220-million year old footprints of dinosaurs on the Dinosaur Route.

For grown-ups there are some of the best spas in Europe, where you can have the stresses and strains of life soothed away. And there are fabulous restaurants, 54 of them - plus another 33 bars, cafes and patisseries.

Cortina d'Ampezzo is the only Italian member of the prestigious European association Best of the Alps, an international quality trademark which brings together the 12 most famous and exclusive towns in the Alpine region.
