The familiar ski slopes of winter are transformed into an extensive green-clad adventure playground for outdoor enthusiasts, all set off by spectacular wildflower meadows, crystal clear lakes and pollution-free mountain air.

The four villages are in the Paznaun valley of Austria's Tirol region and together offer a vast and diverse holiday programme with mountain biking, hiking, Nordic walking, via ferrate, climbing, high rope course, tennis, canyoning, paragliding and hang-gliding, motorbike test drives, swimming and excellent cuisine.

New for this summer is the HighBike centre in Ischgl, offering the opportunity to hire from a dream range of motorbikes with top names such as BMW, Triumph and Ducati. Test drives, day trips and overnight options are all possible for exploring the mountain roads and passes.

Paznaun's summer is punctuated with events, starting with a go-kart race around the village centre on July 1 and 2; the Ischgl Iron Run challenge on July 23; Harley Davidson Mountain Rodeo July 29 to 31; 17th annual Ironbike mountain bike race on August 5 and 6; the 38th annual Silvretta-Ferwall marathon run on August 28; and the 17th international cheese-rolling Olympics on September 24.

The Culinary Jakobsweg trails will again be open this summer bringing award-winning cuisine to the four mountain lodges of Heidelbergerhütte, Jamtalhütte, Niederelbehütte and Ascherhütte with new menus from star chefs from across Europe under the guidance of top Austrian chef Eckart Witzigmann, who holds a coveted Chef Of The Century title.

The nearest airports to the Paznaun valley resorts are Innsbruck (BA; easyJet), Munich (BA; Lufthansa) and Zurich (BA; Swiss).
