Smoke on the mountain, powder in the sky - and a massive coup for Ischgl which today announced that the hugely popular British rock band Deep Purple will play out this awesome ski season in true rock'n'roll style.
Air guitars will be at the ready for what is bound to be a hit concert on Tuesday 30 April to play out this sensational ski season, which kicked off at the end of November with a festival of concerts - climaxing with German rock band The Scorpions - and closes on Wednesday 1 May.
For a number of years now, major world stars of the music scene have been opening and closing the ski season in Ischgl, said Tourist Director Andreas Steibl.
This year we have gone one step further to bring a true legend to the Silvretta Arena. Spring snow, 238 kms of slope and hard rock anthems at more than 2,300m - it doesn't get more legendary than this!
Deep Purple will provide the live soundtrack to our exciting season finale.
The band will join Ischgl's impressive Hall of Fame, which has seen Top Of The Mountain concerts by Elton John, Kylie Minogue, The Killers, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Rihanna and Pink.
Deep Purple sets off on a world tour next month, taking in Australia, the US, Canada and Europe, and will delight crowds with hits such as Smoke On The Water, Black Night and Child In Time.
The lunchtime concert at Ischgl's mountain-top arena at Idalp is free to holders of a valid liftpass, which is needed to get to the venue anyway. The arena can hold up to 20,000 people and is in a natural amphitheatre against the backdrop of the Silvretta Mountains.
