Head To Cortina D'Ampezzo For The Perfect Post-Festive Revival

The best post-festive workout is beckoning in the chic ski town of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Queen of the Dolomites in northern Italy - presenting the perfect solution for reviving and refreshing after the festive excesses, with the added bonus of realising New Year resolutions in spectacular surroundings.

After a trial launch last winter, this season marks an all-out wellness campaign which has transformed Cortina into the first Technogym Mountain Wellness Hub.

The project starts as soon as you arrive in your hotel, with a welcome pack of information and details of 'on demand' programmes. Follow exercise routines in your room - including the useful pre-ski workout - or sign up for personalised programmes in Cortina's many gyms and spas.

Or take your fitness regime onto the mountain with four days of sport and wellness with Cortina's alpine guides. Day one features a freeride tour between Tofana and Lagazuoi, finishing in the Lagazuoi refuge where, at 2752m, you can relax in the highest altitude sauna in the Dolomites; day two is a freeride excursion in the Lagazuoi-Valtravenanzes-5 Torri area finishing at the Scoiattoli refuge at 2255m which has an outdoor hot tub; day three is a ski mountaineering route across Forcella Averau to Passo Giau and on to the Croda da Lago Refuge with its Finnish sauna; day four is a climb over the majestic Rocchetta di Prendera and back down to Cortina.

Said Marianne Moretti of Cortina Turismo: The spectacular Dolomite scenery, exceptional food both on and off the mountain, excellent value for money and superb snow conditions add up to the perfect way to start the New Year. The slopes are in great shape and, in addition, Cortina offers some of the very best ski mountaineering and ski touring in the Alps plus amazing off-piste and Nordic skiing.
