Two weeks to go until the ski season in Ischgl gets underway and the liveliest village in the Alps swings into action for a sensational five-month snow-sure season of the best skiing, snowboarding and partying around.

But you don't have to wait until the ski slopes open to get your first taste of Ischgl this winter, as the resort's 30 second TV ad is currently being screened on UK TV channels including Sky News, E4, Eurosport, MTV, National Geographic, Dave, Extreme, More 4, Discovery Travel & Living and Sky Sport News. The screening of the ad underlines the importance that Ischgl places on the UK market.

Scotland's Amy Macdonald launches Ischgl's week of concerts

Scottish singer Amy Macdonald takes to the Top Of The Mountain stage in Ischgl on Saturday 24 November, the day after the ski lifts and slopes open for the new 2012-13 season. The line-up for the rest of the week is Swiss-born DJ Antoine on Wednesday 28; German band Wingenfelder & Wingenfelder on Thursday 29; and the top of the bill is German rock band The Scorpions on Saturday 1 December.

The new-look 2012-13 Festival Opening Week is being staged in co-operation with Volkswagen. During the week, Volkswagen will present the new Golf 7. Visitors can find out all about the technical details and then take the car on test drive on the road to Galtür, where there will be a test track with snow and ice.
