Two weeks to go until the ski season in Ischgl gets underway and the liveliest village in the Alps swings into action for a sensational five-month snow-sure season of the best skiing, snowboarding and partying around.
But you don't have to wait until the ski slopes open to get your first taste of Ischgl this winter, as the resort's 30 second TV ad is currently being screened on UK TV channels including Sky News, E4, Eurosport, MTV, National Geographic, Dave, Extreme, More 4, Discovery Travel & Living and Sky Sport News. The screening of the ad underlines the importance that Ischgl places on the UK market.

Scottish singer Amy Macdonald takes to the Top Of The Mountain stage in Ischgl on Saturday 24 November, the day after the ski lifts and slopes open for the new 2012-13 season. The line-up for the rest of the week is Swiss-born DJ Antoine on Wednesday 28; German band Wingenfelder & Wingenfelder on Thursday 29; and the top of the bill is German rock band The Scorpions on Saturday 1 December.
All concerts start at 6pm and are free to holders of a valid skipass.
This week-long celebration marks the progression of Ischgl as a leader in ski resort entertainment. The village was the first alpine ski resort to feature big name rock concerts almost 20 years ago and has become legendary for the stars who have performed at the beginning and end of every season, including the likes of Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Lionel Richie and The Killers.
The new-look 2012-13 Festival Opening Week is being staged in co-operation with Volkswagen. During the week, Volkswagen will present the new Golf 7. Visitors can find out all about the technical details and then take the car on test drive on the road to Galtür, where there will be a test track with snow and ice.
Alpine nanny and babysitting specialists Merinannies are launching their service in Ischgl this winter. Merinannies offer a huge bonus to families with young children, enabling the little ones to have a fun and happy holiday while parents get their fix of slope-time skiing and boarding. Two of Ischgl's mountain restaurants have been re-developed and extended ready for the 2012-13 winter season.
Snow-making systems have been further extended in Ischgl and there are now 1,100 snow machines to guarantee snowy slopes from 23 November to the very last day of the season more than five months later on 1 May.
The family-friendly village of Kappl hosts the first Zibob® Family Cross World Championships in January 2013. A Zibob® is a mini sledge that carves like a ski and is fun for all ages. In February it's the turn of freeriders when the Open Faces Freeride Contest takes place in the backcountry powder territory of the area.
The Sunny Mountain partner businesses are a group of family-friendly hoteliers and chalet hosts in Kappl geared to ensuring the youngest members of the family have a wonderfully memorable holiday with goody bags, special toiletries and bedding, plus free supervised play in the Sunny Mountain kindergarten. Use of the Zibob run is available to the whole family.
Kappl's winter season runs from 14 December to 7 April.
Fireworks and a spectacular ski show will be delighting holidaymakers to the village of See every Tuesday evening throughout the ski season, which runs from 22 December to 5 April. The Fire On Ice spectacular takes place at the middle station of the Medrigjoch gondola, following which people can go to the Panorama Restaurant for an Alpine lodge evening with wonderful food and music and then have the option to speed back down to the valley on the 6km illuminated toboggan run.
Galtür has scooped a gold award for the range of facilities for children at the ski area of Silvapark, plus further awards for family-friendliness and piste maintenance.
The 2012-13 season will run from 7 December to 14 April and will launch on the weekend of 7-9 December with a weekend of Bavarian music.
